How to Find a Crossword Go Answer from Part of a Clue

Use the Crossword Go clue search to find an answer and its exact level when you only know part of the prompt.

When a Crossword Go puzzle is open, you often know enough of a clue to recognize it but not enough to solve it. The quickest route is to search for the part you can read instead of browsing hundreds of levels one by one.

Open the Crossword Go walkthrough index and use the Clue Search section above the level picker. It searches the text clues recovered from the packaged game data. You can enter a whole clue or only a distinctive fragment.

For example, entering AWAK matches AWAKENED and shows the answer WOKE. The result also identifies the chapter, direction, and exact level page. This is useful when the prompt is visible in the top row or left column of the puzzle but the answer squares are still empty.

Use a phrase that is specific enough to narrow the result. A short common word can match many clues, while a longer word, a partially completed pattern, or a distinctive phrase usually gets you to one level quickly.

Image prompts are not included in clue text search because the game stores them as images rather than searchable words. For those, open the relevant level page to compare the solved board and the answer list.

The search results link directly to the individual answer page, where you can see the completed grid, every Across and Down answer, and the original prefilled letters.
